I am a truck driver :coat: , BUT not one that does 40mph or hog the middle lane for 10 miles trying to overtake another wagon ;).

I drive an 8 wheeler hiab truck working in construction and railway infrastructure. Delivering all over the UK and Ireland and occasionally into Europe.

I can be found driving a red n black RJC truck with my name "Clarky" on the doors and in the windscreen.

I think you are a housing man of somekind....?

Now me.

Left school in 1998
started an apprentiship with Barnsley council in admin, then IT. Did 3 NVQs then moved around a bit.
Finance department, payroll, HR, transportation / highways and engineering (designed road junctions and speed calming areas).
Then started HNC, NHD so moved into data / systems management for the education service still at Barnsley council.
Then had a stint at proper IT and did a few Microsoft quals MCSA, MCSE so managed the councils servers and network. did a Cisco CCNA then did a spot of sub contracting. Did a degree in business computing a PRINCE2 project management course and ITIL service management.

Looked after 5 schools IT doing all sorts mainly trying to find the longest way around the school.
Then went back into systems management and did a few years for adult social services, supporting people and the homeless department. Had enough of that so then went into teaching for a bit.

Moved to sheffield council then and was a training manager teaching all the schools in the north of sheffield interesting ways to teach the kids. Gran turismo maths? Guitar Hero to learn angles oh yes it was a cracking job but funding was drying up. So job swap time again.

NHS was the next port of call.

Worked in the server team for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals doing lots of clever server stuff including virtual servers, system management and just all round hardcore geekyness. The fault tolerance in the NHS is quite amazing. I was part paid by the corporate team and the other site was paid by the Medical Physics team so got involved with some very interesting super computer grid projects like how to calculate the best place to install a pacemaker etc.... I was a "Computer Scientist" lol...

But then a job came up which was too good to miss and I'm in it now.
Still in the NHS but manage a departmental system and a few staff. Work in the Ophthalmology department (eyes) and implementing a new system, this suits me down to the ground as can use all my skills in a bit of everything that I do so a lot of tecchy stuff including data / system config but then a lot of people / project stuff too. I have a good influence of the IT dept as I used to work there so people see me as one of the good guys (so far anyway). I did the first year of a masters last year in Health Informatics so I'm a post grad now but then....

PROJECT TWINS arrived...

So I've stopped for a while.

Now I'm just biding my time as I'm on the management team, once someone is out I'll move up. I'll eventually if the opportunity knocks take on a few more systems in the department or work in Central IT again in a consulting / advisory role.

As I've got about 13 year in a pension I'm really trying to stick in the public sector as long as possible although the money in the private sector is very tempting..

So I'm perfect for fixing MGs LOL

Haha Ben, small world this. When you were at Barnsley Council, Concorde Informatics used to supply bits to you guys, which is where I was a field service engineer so may well have bumped into you back then at some point...

Fast forward to today, I work for a medical instruments company who specialise in ophthalmology and supply the NHS, so probably (Actually we are) supplying your workplace.

I ditched A levels after a few months in favour of a monthly salary earned in an insurance brokers. Various admin/accounts/IT roles followed in companies, schools & hospitals. Moved on to a role as data anyalyst which I still do today on a part time remote basis alongside my main job which is admin in a couple of retained fire stations... jobs ok, bit on the boring side, but the environment isn't too bad ;)

Started off as a maintenance fitter in a foundry, then did my electrical course to become a Technician. (miss foundry trade)

Spent a few years working at a company that made MGF interior and hardtops. (shame i didnt have MGF then)!

I am currently a Facilities maintenance supervisor at a company making recyling bins.
