toyos
Hi all
I have just been on a web site which compered tyres and TOYO was one of them and the T1 Rs didn't score to well. The site started at A and went to G toyos scored G for fuel economy and surprize E for wet grip

no one asked me, I am more than happy with my toyo's. Great for low milage use and perfect in the dry. I have been dodging the rain drops for years. :nofight: :bust:

The Toyos get bad marks for fuel economy on all sites.
The problem with fuel efficient tyres, is that while they do give you better fuel economy, they are usually a harder compound and give worse grip on hard cornering.

I've seen the same report on a US based tyre test. The Toyos came last or near last, and Goodyear Eagles came first.
It was the only test that came to that conclusion with all others rating highly the Toyos. I'm going to replace my OEM Goodyears with Toyos.
With all the positive comments here, I reckon real world experience beats those fellas and their one off negative test.

I put Toyo T1 R's on my F around 18 months ago. Fuel economy comparison has not been something I have looked at, but I have thought long and hard in relation to wet and dry grip levels. I believe that the Toyos don't provide anywhere near same level of grip as the Goodyear F1 GSD3's I had on previously (yes I have heard the cries that if you fit GSD3's you will fly off the road and bring down an airliner, suffer HGF, eternal damnation and it will be the end of time and space) it is probably more to do with the way my car is set up and my driving style than the toyo's themselves, but regardless of the reason I'll be looking for something other than T1R's when I replace them. :pinch:
Still on the subject of Toyo but a different tyre, the Toyo R888 track tyres are awesome and would go close to being the best track tyre I have used, I will be getting them again. :woohoo:
Cheers

Sorry mate, didn't mean to do that to you. There are plenty of people who swear by the T1Rs this is simply my experience.

GSD3s earned their bad rep amongst F/TFers when coupled with the earlier GSD2s .... their compounds and relative side wall strengths are different which could lead to unpredictable loss of traction when put on different axles :hgf: ... (same old rule of not mixing types of tyres )
When Goodyear released them, they didn't specifically highlight this and got slated for it.
GSD2s or GSD3s on all wheels are good. :broon: .... just don't mix them.
Toyos are better though.

I've had GSD2s & Toyo T1Rs on various TFs we have had & I think the Toyo's are better all round & I wouldn't have GSD2s again after the rear blowout we had on the motorway but as in all things its up to you as its your money get what you want but my vote would be for the Toyo's wet grip is good & I've had 20K plus out of the rears as have others who I know have them, I never check MPG anyway.
I'm also a fan of Hankook tyres but never been adventurous enough to try a set on a TF.
