by happy coincidence i've just procured (is that the compo word?) four toyo tyres for the MG.

Toyo PROXES T1-R 215/40 R16 86W RF (rim flange :omg: ) for £63 each including VAT and delivery, from delti.com t/a mytyres also on ebay.
something of a no brainer at that price. :yesnod:

i shall chuck them on the car this weekend when i have half an hours play time.
:drive:

my previous experience with the toyo is excellent progressive grip, and fine in the wet; if you're driving a mid engined car when there is standing water on the road you shouldnt need your tyres to tell you to back off.

Ok in the dry...

If you look at 195/50/15 fronts instead of 185/55 15 I think you'll find more options. A lot of people go that route successfully.

I ordered a full set of Toyos from tyretraders.com fitted for £233. Mine were 195/50/15 for the front. They've been on a couple of weeks and it feels like a different car. Mind you, my F came with liquorice allsorts on..

it's worthy of note how the price changes according to the chosen tyre size.
the 195/50x15 are often far cheaper than the relatively uncommon 215/40x16.
something to consider when hankering after bigger wheels.

another no for the nankang here, they're not very good. :nonod:
usefully remembered in the form of a song.
'they tried to fit my car with nankang, but i said no, no, no.' :coat:
