Anyone heard of, or tried, Falkens? :-?

Ain't it funny, how time slips away...?

Yup, My first TF had Falkens.

They're a decent Tyre IMO.

They don't have the poo-adhesive blanket capabilities of Toyos or Goodyears, but they have predictable handling in both wet and dry, with a progressive break of traction under duress .... they're certainly not ditch-finders. ;) .... and they wear reasonably well too.

If I had them on Purranna I'd get full use of them before replacing with a more desirable brand. :yesnod:

The above are taken from comments by mgf/tf owners who have used these tyres on their cars.

I suspect that I'll need to replace tyres before the MOT in March. There is a local guy who does Falkens at a good price, so I think I will probably go for it.

We use Falkens on the Focus ST, but decided they weren't for the TF.

From reading up they are good tyres on a heavy FWD car but don't get such good write ups for smaller lighter cars.

The main complaints about Falkens seems to be tyre noise. Not sure it will make that much of a difference with the engine right behind my lugs.

Not sure if it helps, but some interesting reviews on here. Comes out fairly positive.

Thanks, Clive. At first glance, 3 out of 4 would buy them again. Looks OK. And they are what I can afford, I guess. If anyone knows of better tyres around the same price, I am more than happy to listen.

... of course a major factor in determining which tyre is best, and one which is often ignored, is what you as a driver want from your tyre.

As you rightly point out, tyre road noise on a mid engine convertible (especially one where the driver is unlikely to ever have the hood up ..) .. shouldn't be a primary concern when making your purchase.

I like Toyos because I enjoy defying the laws of physics when cornering ... others may prefer durability over grip. ;)

Fortunately there's a tyre type out there for most preferences, despite our cars being out of production. :broon:

I had a set of Avon ZV5 fitted on my "F" about 6 months ago, for £300 all in :broon:
They have good grip in wet & dry, though I don't drive on the limit & am pleased with them.
Will let you know more when I've done the Silverstone track day :drive:
