I suspect that this is probably the average (mode and mean) sort of age here.

A more telling question would be : at what age did you buy your MG?

midlife crisis? Thinning hair? etc... hmmmm.....

Midlife crisis my arse! What an utter load of bollocks that is.
If having a sportscar equates to having a midlife crisis then mine started in my teens, I've always had sports cars, as such I consider any such suggestion as an act of discrimination, on the basis of both my age and lifestyle choices.
If I have to put up with every other bastard's political correctness bullshit, then they can cop a dose of it back! :bust:

yup me too... but apparently the average age of first purchase of a sports car is 42.

reasons stated are various, more financial stability, children have grown up etc. Very few owners would own up to a mid life crisis purchase, but I bet most have been accused of it. I know I certainly have been.(which does always make me smile). Im in my early fifties, recently divorced and driving a sports car... my hair is starting to thin... if the cap fits (and hides the bald spot) etc ;)

I've still got a full head of hair (for that matter got a face full too!) at 56, it's silver now, not black like it used to be when I first started buggerising about with sports cars, but it is still there! :bust:

I've got no hair..used to shave me head since 1996 anyway...teeth are me own....had the mg at age..47...like acting the goat...still get pissed....always in trouble...no body likes me......neighbours don't speak.....things are looking up....yes no midlife crisis....cheap or even no road tax on some of my cars combined with cheaper insurance due to online shopping allows me to have a tf for a toy...I've always wanted a open top sports car since I was a kid...Mercedes sl350..were one of my favourites along with the midget has I went for a spin on one years ago .....I say spin on one has a relative of mine took me for a spin ....I begged him to go fast around our town...his girlfriend in the passenger seat and me sitting on the boot lid with my feet inside.....yes this was the early 1970s and if he went to a pub and got sozzled we still may of drove around town without any intervention by the law.thinking about it now that same relative r.I. p....used to dangle me over the bridge above the river trent...used to let go for a split second aswell....bit like how micheal Jackson dangled that kid over the balcony.....times have changed a bit ain't they.....I started to get hair loss in the 90s..I can say it was down to a local footbridge why I lost my hair.....I used to take a shortcut at night when I was coming home from a local boozer...that bloody bridge was substandard along with the footpath leading to it....the path and bridge appeared to move...not so much when I used it in the daytime but late at night...the movement often made me fall over banging my head and knocking about 5 hairs a night clean off...thinking about it I could of sued the local council for copensation.
Below is the merc I wanted well before people used the phrase midlife crisis and hairdresser..or for that matter ladies car..

I took to the MGs in my early sixties. The mid life crisis was nothing to do with sports cars, I wasn't able to work on the Land Rovers, the parts were simply too heavy for me at that time. I'd get a wheel off, do a job & have to wait for my lad to put it back on. Lifting the spare off would have blown my pacemaker across the road & over the house opposite; I still struggle.
Finding the f gave me a more manageable car to play with & as my initials are MG it was an obvious choice.
