The bottom pic looks like a big heat sink with thermal paste on it.

Would nead a better pic of the circuit board.

Don't suppose you can see the reverse of the circuit boaed? Looking for a manufacturers name or serial number for the boaed.

the chip on the top 945A is a HBridge and is Pin compatabile with ADP3418

Data Sheet here

http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/analogdevices/403053493ADP3418_prc.pdf

Now that i've lost you all:dunno:

After reading the data sheet, I think its a unit for stopping your speakers from going thump when the amps first come on. Possibily from a external source which is bypassing the Speaker protection in the head unit. CB perhaps

Really need to know the Numbers on the reverse of 12 Pin package, the one with the thermal paste overit. It looks like a signal amp on the reverse, Need cooling and the rest of the case would point to needing RF damping as it all metal and the circuit board is grounded to the case.

Okay, I'll have a go at removing the circuit board in a second. Don't want to risk breaking it, in case it's got a place somewhere :P

edit: okay, the board wont budge :(

Well, whatever the contraption is, after much force and pressure, I'm pretty much certain I've disabled it.. on purpose of course *cough*

That's what i said, Sort of.
There is only enough pins hooked up on the mosfet for Mono audio. So what Audio was is amplifying?
