I guess an audio amp being behind the centre console makes a BIT of sense, but not just loose and unplugged. If the weathers not too bad tomorrow I'll get upside down in my footwell with a torch and have another look :outtahere:

W. Heath Robinson. He is best known for drawings of eccentric machines and "Heath Robinson" has entered the language as a description of any unnecessarily complex and implausible contraption.

O yeah! Heath Robinson rules.
Another guy did fantastically complicated drawings, usually of impossibilities.
