After years of being slow and noisy my drivers side window has finally given up the ghost. It will very slowly lower, but when you try to raise it there is just a grinding sound. I was able to drag it back to the top bar 5mm manually.
Surprisingly there doesn't seem to be a guide on replacing the mechanism on the Forum (may have missed it?)?
Somehow I don't think this is because its so obviously easy.....
Any advice welcome.

"After years of being slow and noisy" I think you are being too harsh on yourself a bit there Neill.
This is what you need assuming yours is a Mk2 F or a TF. I cant remember what your car is https://www.mgfntfbitz.co.uk/shop/rh-window-regulator-assembly/ Mk1 F's used a slightly different type. Window regulators can look very perplexing but when you have the door card off and hold the replacement part up to the door before you start undoing anything it immediately starts making sense as you can then see how it works and what goes where.

I take it the motor has given up the ghost.
Mine was getting slower and I liberally lubricated the guides and slides which helped.

Your car will have the one shot windows, which I believe is operated by the Pektron unit. Very early cars were not blessed with this facility, later Lucas cars had a control unit in the drivers footwell; these got damp & some were prone to high resistance relay contact failure, this caused slow operation. It could be the same with the Pektron unit, especially when one considers the other problems caused by those relays.
I retro fitted the Lucas unit in my early car, however being aware of other problems I relocated my unit, (modified & sealed) in the door.

As an FYI, the window motors from a LR Discovery 1, CUR100450 and CUR100440, are identical to the ones used in MGFs and TFs, and the connector is the same as the one used on early MGFs; no need to switch connectors.
