So just leaves the M6 M6 Toll southern JUNCTION
Oh dear, I'm at the wrong end of the wrong motorway going the wrong way. I'll just have to "google" my way up to to the next roundabout and come back. As it is all "virtual" I should be back in an hour or so

Would it possibly be J3 which, according to my "virtual" tour is where I think I might, possibly, join this abberation of a "toll" road. We did away with them down here in the South West in 1866, That would tie in with the MG J3??

Woohoo! We have a winner! I said you were making it far too difficult! I would also have accepted J4 as the Toll road starts between 3 and 4 (designated 3a i believe)

Tsleight - you have nooooooooooooooooo idea how near to an accident I came as I "googled" up the M1 - M6. It's a long way to come from South Devon you know and some of us may travel to Australia from time to time but drive up the M6 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!
Oh well, this one should prove to be a quickie for the masses :-
Please identify (I know it is an MG) and give just a brief résumé
Thank you

It was all new to me Mark. I haven't been doing the quiz from day 1 so have missed a lot of stuff. I also haven't had time to sit down and read every page from day 1 to page 200+, so some of the stuff has passed me by and I appreciate it when some old questions re occur.
Old questions, new questions .... it's all good
You dont remember the fight we had about the number of RV8s made John Newey had to intervene and called it RV8gate!! :slapme:

The base for the 4x4 pictured in Mr Forgetful's question was instantly recognisable as a Ssangyong Rexton, having owned the predecessor to the Rexton.
Ssangyong are owned by SAIC so I assumed this had been a re-badging exercise.
A little more digging revealed this ;-
BMW decided that it couldn’t keep hold of Land Rover and so sold the Solihull company to Ford for a whopping £1.6bn.
In order to protect Ford from MG Rover producing a rival off-roader, one stipulation of the convoluted licensing deal involving the Rover marque was that Longbridge could not produce an off-roader or four wheel drive car bearing the Rover name. After all, customers in international markets might confuse a Land Rover 4×4 with a Rover 4×4 – and, if you think that sounds implausible, remember that, in the USA, most drivers call their Rangies ‘Rovers’…
Here are just seven cars that could have become MG Rovers – and those are the ones that we know about:
Matra M72
Renault Espace
Fiat Stilo
Proton Gen2
Fiat Multipla
Lancia Musa
A great little mid-engined TATA Indica with MG TF 180 running gear
Another car that was seriously evaluated at Longbridge was the SsangYong Rexton but, because of the no 4×4 stipulation from BMW, it would have had to be badged as an MG. Given that marque’s sporting heritage, there’s no doubt that an off-roading Octagon-badged SUV might cause marketing problems.
I quite liked the special edition Rexton made with a few tweaks by Khan, which if badged MG may have looked good?
A sporting company producing a 4x4... why not an MG 4x4...Porsche did it.
There have been other attempts at an MG 4x4 before.....
... but I think some of these people need psychological counselling

Thank you Paul,
Are you trying to ensure Brain - SORRY Bryan can't find something to nit pick with?? :woohoo:
Quote "The MG version of the Rexton looks surprisingly good – much better than the car it’s based on – and may well have had potential but three prototypes were now all that remain of the idea."
I don't know about you but finding new questions is beginning to get like my "virtual drive" I did for Tsleigh up the M6 for his recent question - extremely stressful. :bang:
Over to you (thankfully) :yesnod:
