For an added bonus what is the colour code of VIN ...000251?

Just to clarify, the VIN number does relate to the MGF  Nothing cryptic here and all your answers can be found right here on the T-Bar

I was just about to reply-hasn't this question been answered earlier in this thread? 98 press cars, 30 in this registration batch and the amaranth one isn't to production standard! (least, that's what Brian says :)!)

I believe 98 press and road test cars? Is that near enough?

It was in 1996/7 that I got a rover 200Vi -VVc - had two kids and worked so couldn't have an F

98 pre-production MGF's were made in the early part of 1995 from Vin 000001 to 000098

30 of these cars were registered N801 SVC to N830 SVC in early August 1995 and were used as Press and Publicity cars ~ 16 of this thirty still exist today and are on the road, SORN'd and one was exported. The paperwork that came with N 807 SVC from MG Rover stated that this car could not be considered to be of production standard.

VIN number 000050 was presented to MG WORLD magazine

N803 SVC ( Flame Red) wasthe car that Autocar Magazine used to carry out their extensive road testing (i have a copy of the September 1995 edition that covered this test) :yesnod:

98 is good enough for me.

Thank you so much - I was going to do an easy one and ask what the registration was, what happened to it but now I won't.

Anyway, a bit cryptic but the clues are all there (I think) and you "lot" is far more clever than what I is being a country bumpkin and part time village irriot so:-

Q. Built not by robots, before Norma Anne and in total evolution terms, nearer the end than the beginning.
But, what and where, how and how many (approximately).
A clue or two
A rifle “seemingly” part of the UK but maybe not – in more ways than one

Yes it is MG related specifically and by relationship as well. !! :bust:

I'm off to read the paper now and golf tomorrow so will check in the evening - I'm sure you clever *** (MG's) will have worked it out.
Nighty night :coat:

Only 30 were registered and used as press and publicity cars to be exact ~ it is not known where the other 67 went :nonod: Vin 000050 was given to MG WORLD MAGAZINE

Compared to 4653 - oh, no it's 5536 - ah, now wait a minute - minus 166 - yes, 5370, THAT's the number this is easy peasy.
A futher clue - well if it was your great, great, great uncle Edward/Edmund/Edgar/Edwin ?? then he died about 145 years ago. Now that makes it easy (well easier><) to perhaps determine the "where" ??

That could put us in Little Missenden, with the birth of Herbert Austion, leading us on to either something either Austin or Wolseley

perhaps
the Where: Longbridge
the what: Belgian Refugee's
the how many: 3000

But i don't have a how, so it not that and meaning i just got rid of perfectly good quiz question :nonod:
