The full quote
Jean Cook finds no shortage of potential new MG people. Seeing tired looking MGB's and Midget's brings about flashing headlights and waving arms. MG drivers have always greeted one another in this way, and F drivers will be expected to follow suit, she says.
Jean Cook was one of Cecil Kimber's daughters.

Softly~Softly wrote: In which year did MG decide to send a 3 car entry to Le Mans ? 1935
What was different about this team ? All were ladies who won their class with a 1st, 2nd, and a 3rd placing.
One of the cars was rebodied and returned to racing in the 30's, the car's has a name, what is it ? Leonidas
How does that car relate to this month ? It is (actually) being auctioned by RM auctions on the 27th of October.
From the Torygraph:

By David Williams
In 1935 MG decided to launch a three-car entry for Le Mans, and as they still had unsold MG PAs they decided to convert them to full race specification. The cars were sent back to the factory where an exhaustive list of modifications was carried out.
As a publicity exercise, MG chose six of the leading female racing drivers of the day and hired them to drive the cars under the direction of Captain George Eyston.
The results for the 'all-girl' team were a sensation. The three cars finished first, second and third within the works entry in their class.
In later years one of the winning cars was scrapped by the factory and another suffered an accident after which it was rebodied with a streamlined nose and returned to racing in the late 1930s. That car - known as 'Leonidas' is part of the Collier collection in Naples, Florida.
The car now offered for sale by RM Auctions of London is the only unmodified original survivor of the three works cars.
Following Le Mans, the car was returned to the factory and upgraded with a supercharger, after which it became one of 'The Musketeers', the factory trials team.
It raced several times in the pre-war years but after the war was acquired by Frederick Royston, owner of Royston Motors, the US importer for many British cars including MG.
The MG was bought by its current vendor in 1989 and has been - says RM - carefully and comprehensively restored, being in 'excellent condition mechanically and cosmetically'.
It is expected to fetch up to around £160,000 when it goes under the hammer at Battersea Park on October 27.
