It's not a secret that Rover's ingenious VVC design for the K-Series was developed from a lapsed patent held by piston manufacturer AE. VVC was first introduced with the MGF but Rover's Variable Valve Timing program actually began way back in the late 1980s.
The question is - what was the development/in-house name for Rover's VVC project?

The biggest issue was those bloody stupid Metric wheels and the TDX tyres. They were grippy enough, but at over £100 per boot in 1984 they were ridiculously expensive.
Ah of course... VVC codename = Very Very Complicated Should've remembered from Dr Dave's rebuild thread on .org

and have to agree with you, they are before my time but the Maestro & Montego were great looking cars. A T16'd Maestro would go straight into my dream garage
