Yeah I gave it a seeing to an assortment of wet and dry...

1. First did some 240 wet n dry, then some 400 wet n dry. Then cleaned all the crap off and dried off with a hair dryer.
2. Then two coats of prime, no rubbing down between coats just waited 20 mins between coats.
3. Then left to dry for a day.
4. Took the lot in the kitchen for some very very light rubbing with 800 wet and dry till all was smooth to touch.
5. Hairdrier'd them dry and took to the garage.
6. One coat of paint, waited 20 mins again and then another coat.

Ran out of paint so will check the progress tonight with more paint + primer and build the paint up.

Noticed after paint coat one there was a slight residue on the top so wiped a cloth over and dried again, maybe its because I was in the garage with the door shut as it was a bit cold.

Anyway, more to follow.

Plan on doing some more tonight, then clear lacquer over the weekend.

Playing around with my project today I noticed how out of place the gear leaver surround is inside it. That standard matt silver finish is just so out of place. Something will have to be done but what ? ............................................................... that is the question.

Reading threads on others interiors I noticed more than one has smoothed it and filled in the fake allen bolts ...................................... Hmmmmmm. Perhpas fill them in and wrap it with chrome wrap?

never having used wrap before I wonder :pop:

Meanwhile i shall watch with interest as even though I may not want to follow suit as it's not to my taste there are still things to be learnt from others work and ideas.

As for LED's well later I shall be replacing the interior lighting with LED's for a cleaner light. have done so in the Rovers already.

You can rub the plastic paint off and underneath is metal then you can brasso or autosol it shiney. Wrap I tried it its OK on straight edges other things it will come off with heat just think hot engine pipesunder the gear knob.

Ahhh had not thought of the pipes and did not know the outer cover ring was metal. Thought it was some sort of plastic. Went outside and pooped it off to look at. Needed it off as it will be changed for a cream/beige gator at some point.

Thank you for the tip.

A bit more colour now :)

They are in the airing cupboard for a few days to harden up :woohoo:

Next little project will be to mesh the boot and side vents with that shiny diamond mesh sheet I've got.

Then badges and done :broon: :broon: :broon:

An update...

All painting done and in
All alloy rings / accessories in
New speaker grilles on
Coolant alarm working
Fogs working
Light up cig ring working

And today....

Exhaust rattle cured :)

Now just need a nice long day to clean it and then sell.

The exhaust is booming and popping as usual again (in a good way)

Feeling quite chuffed with myself. I'm not a mechanic by all means but with the right tools, research and patience most jobs on a TF can be done.

For the ones you are scared of ring RUSSELL WALSH :)

Just a little note. I have replaced the gator and that ring on the VVC with a chromed ring.. Looks much better and goes with the chrome ash tray. Thank you for teh info about it.
