no the answer isn't one of the many jokes Phil-Hex has just thought up

I'm a nurse! :nurse:

well a student nurse but still :woohoo:I started my Training today in my Diploma (leading to) a Bachelor of the Sciences in Adult nursing :)

Just thought you all should know :)

anyway gets me thinking, what do you all do?

We know each other online and many have us have met the real world counterparts to the avatars and have put voices to the onscreen stream of sage advice and sexual innuendo (I'm looking at you David and Clive)

But we don't know what we all spend our time toiling away at so we can buy shiny things for our cars :yesnod: so why not pipe up and tell us all what you do and where you do it :)

Teesside meet, open to all MG/Rs. 3rd Sunday of the month, ask for times and places!!!

I'm an electrical nurse. An electrician, or more specifically a maintenance electrician.

My career has spanned working on Radar systems, weapon systems, communication and control systems, vehicles (normal, tracked, speciallist), batteries, photographic systems, generators and installations, Air conditioning systems, domestic equipment, robots, computer chip manufacturing equipment and many more that I have probably forgotten.

At the moment I look after escalators, lifts, fire systems, power distribution, lighting, installation, sump pump systems etc etc on the Tyne & Wear Metro system.

I also rescue people stuck in lifts. My favourite was before christmas when somebody had got into a lift, turned around to facethe doors that they had just come through and went up to the next floor. The door didn't open so they contaced the control centre all panicky that they were stuck in the lift. We turned up 10 mintes later, pressed the button and they were standing with their back to us. What they didn't realise was that there are 2 sets of doors, one set opens at the platform level and the other set opens at the concourse. The doors were opening, but they had their back to them. They were expecting the same doors to open. Were they drunk? I will leave that to your imagination. :)

I'm a computer-fixer-bloke. Basically, sit in an office all day, waiting for things to break on Unix/Linux servers so I can fix them. If nothing goes wrong, it means I'm doing my job properly, and I can sit around all day drinking coffee :D

left school at 15 and joined the Royal Navy, 25 years as a mechanical engineer, left as a petty officer (should have been higher but I am too handy with my fists sometimes)

since leaving I have done a few things = facilities supervisor at National Air Traffic services, health & safety advisor, residential estate manager at Gunwharf quays among other places, did a short stint with dyno rod but I am now a site manager (caretaker) at a junior school, I get bored easily so I suspect there will be more jobs in me yet ;)

blimey that felt like writing a CV :p

I'm a pharmacist. After spending almost 20 years with Boots, I finally left and went into the world of inspecting. I'm now one of a handful of Specialist Pharmacist Inspectors who work for the Care Quality Commission (was Healthcare Commission and CSCI) inspecting anything to do with medication in adult health & social care. Generally I spend my time working in Lancashire, Manchester, Liverpool & Wirral inspecting standards in nursing homes, dementia homes etc and make sure everyone's getting the right thing at the right time and aren't being neglected or doped up.
It's not always easy and we do see some very disturbing things, but I love my job and love seeing standards improve and making things better for those who can no longer fight their own battles
.....oh and I LOVE prosecuting and/or shutting down arrogant service providers who treat older people like *****!!!

Be nice to your kids....they chose which care home you go to...

Take care,
Maggy x:bye:

For the last twelve months I have been working in risk management for a local natural gas distribution and transmission business. Prior to that I was working in underground mining as an Emergency Services Officer and Mines Rescue Captain; at various mines around Australia, most recently at the now somewhat infamous Beaconsfield Goldmine. Before I got into mining I also had stints at Territory Manager for a Safety company, professional photographer, cook, Barman and recreational dive instructor.

My wife is a nurse currently working in midwifery. Strangely enough a few yeas ago now, I applied and was accepted to do nursing at the local Uni, but my wife decided to do honours and since we could not afford for us both to be studying I let it go and never got back to it.

I assist in running the 4 family businesses. I don't really get paid for it, I get more like "gifts" of which my MG was one and allowed to live here rent free. The businesses will be gifted to me when my father finally retires, so I'm pretty much helping to build up what'll be my income while taking no current wage.

We current run an antique tool stockists, an auction house, a funeral home, and a hairdressers. I'm suprised no one has made the joke between me owning a hairdressers and the fact I drive an MG. :prrr: Though I don't cut hair, my professional team of leggy blonde babes do that. :awwyeah:

So come to me if you're dead. I can give you a haircut, bury you in the ground and sell all your crap. The complete package!
