Can’t program new fob with PScan, can I get some advice please was created by Matt110168

Hi All,
I purchased a new key fob with barcode for my MG TF and tried using Pscan to configure it, it seemed to except the code on first go but when I tried to use it, it wouldn’t work.
So I thought maybe the battery that came with it was no good, and purchased a new battery. Still didn’t work, so I started over with Pscan only for it to say programming failed.
So not sure where to go from here, any advice would be appreciated.
Regards Matt

Just found out Australia has 315mhz fobs, the one I bought is 415mhz, wish I new that before I parted with $200 bucks.😒

I also believe that both fobs need to be "re-engaged" when programming a new one.
I hope I am correct in saying that.

That's true, but not with a fob of the wrong frequency, sadly.

I can’t recall what determines the clock frequency, it will be a crystal oscillator module as per 3TX units, a silver cylindrical crystal or ceramic resonator.
There is an outside possibility that changing this might harmonise the receiver & fob but it is almost outside the realms of reality, unless you have the kit; that kit includes the skill & Knowledge.

provided you haven't press the buttons too many times, your new 415MHz should still work on a 415Mhz car, so maybe you can get some or all of your money back.
The other option might be to convert the car to 415MHz.

For anybody else reading this thread, to correct frequencies used: it is 433MHz and 315 MHz.
