I think my car is the standard F 1.8i Sport, I think.. I'll measure the height tonight and post back..

If you give us the full Vin Number starting SARR ?????? i can give you the exact spec for your car,

I have now measured the height and its just under 350mm.. Does that look like the height was lowered? The Pirellis I have are 185/55 R15 82V in the front, and 205/50 R15 86V for the rear.

Brian, the VIN for my car is SARRDWBGBYD515783. So, what's the spec? :)

That height is probably not lowered, more likely the suspension needs pumped up. After that get the alignment(tracking) checked.

The car is booked in for Service.
I'll get them to pump up the suspension.. Is it something that'll be charged a lot for?

I checked the NEXEN tyres .. NEXEN N2000 185/55 R15 82V and NEXEN CP641 205/50 R15 86V, are these the right options for my MGF?

Also, any thoughts on Barum Bravuris 2 tyres? They are manufactured by Continental though..

I've not heard anything good about Barums.

I would try to get Nexen 2000s all round if you're going for Nexens.

Uniroyal Rainsport are good reasonably priced tyres.

I too have not heard anything good about Barum tyres

The Nexen N2000 and CP641 have different tread patterns and varying load index!! ~ i agree with David, get N2000s all round if going for them.

Have you obtained a price for Toyos, they are highly rated on F's

The going rate for a suspension pump up is around £60.00 ~ cheaper if someone has the pump (here in Surrey can get it done for about £40) Ask you servicing chap what it is going to cost??

Dont get the tracking done until its pumped up and has the new tyres.

i will write a seperate reply about your car spec, it is a standard car.

Hope this all helps

Absolutely helps..
I'll get the quote on Toyos too.. and will let you know...
From what I've heard, I'll either go for NEXENs or Toyos.. whichever is better priced..

A lot of people also swap the front 185/55/15 for 195/50/15.
The bigger size tends to be cheaper, as it is a more popular size, and the handling is not affected by this change

Sorry for the delay, details for your car listed below.

Vin number explanation
SAR ~ MG Rover UK
RD ~ RHD MGF/TF
W ~ Standard Trim
B ~ Body Style (2 door convertible)
G ~ Engine = K 1.8 mpi (multi point injection) 120 ps
B ~ Right Hand Drive , Manual gearbox
Y ~ Mk2 (MY2000)
D ~ Longbridge built
The building of Mk2 Fs commenced in July 1999 at vin 511060 and were being built at approximately 870 per month , therefore 515783 was probably built towards the end of 1999 or early 2000. (an exact build date certificate can be obtained if required)

Quick Question:
What are the correct manufacturer recommended tyre sizes for my standard MGF? Is the below correct:
Front Tyres
185/55 R15 82V (David suggested 195/50 R15 82V too)

Rear Tyres
205/50 R15 86V

The reason I asked is I was trying to NEXEN 2000s for both front & rear, and I could not get the NEXEN 2000 for the rear with the size 205/50 R15 86V. Instead I'm getting NEXEN CP641....

The 185/55 and 205/50 are the recommended sizes, as I say a lot of people use 195/50 on the front because they're cheaper.
I don't have any feed back on the CP641 tyres.

tyre supplier for 205

David, that's great ... :)
That works out around £230 for a set of 4 tyres for my MG.

Guys,
Need some quick advice on TIGAR PRIMA 1 tyres..
To get the NEXENs I need to drive to Worcester (nearest) to get them fitted by CTYRES.

But, I can order online and get the TIGAR fitted @ National Tyres Gloucester.
But, need some input on this tyre please ...
