Maidstone Sports Cars
What is this MG? A display car with opened up sections so that small boys, not yet enslaved by Sony or Nintendo, can fathom out the wonders of engines and gearboxes.
When was it made? So a 1968 Roadster was located that was doing nothing more than serving as a haven for small wildlife
Who made it. Maidstone Sports Cars
Engine Details The 1.8-litre MGB engine has been taken up to 1950cc, and given what is a fairly standard Stage 3 conversion - balanced, lightened, gas-flowed head and higher lift camshaft. It sucks through the standard pair of SU carburettors, but with K&N air filters, and blows out through a twin-pipe exhaust manifold. The engine's good for 110bhp at the wheels
Gearbox details The gearbox is the staple five-speed MGB conversion - a Sierra Type 9 item. It's the obvious candidate because it fits easily (with modified bell-housing), has a short and precise shift, is tough, easy to find and inexpensive - even if bought reconditioned. The front brakes have been uprated with Brembo discs of the standard size, along with four-pot Lockheed calipers. At the rear, the drums are replaced with discs and single-pot calipers. The chromed wire wheels are 15-rather than the original 14-inch, and run Fulda 185/70 tyres..
Suspension manufacturer. Epsom-based Hoyle Engineering the independent suspension, the cure for the MGB's somewhat bumpy ride and almost endearing poor rear-end grip afforded by the live axle on cart springs

Very well done, you are 98% correct :slapme:
The gearbox is Hi-Gear Gearbox conversions.
The car was made 7 years ago and has been in hibernation ever since. Came from a 1968 basket case wildlife haven in blue. it will be seen very much out & about this year (MGB 50th birthday)
John Hoyle has a part interest in the car as he was never paid for the suspension!! they are £2500 an end.
Well done Mr F, said it was easy, now its your turn :yesnod:

Thank you to Bryan for our 185th MG Quiz question and to Mr Forgetful for the answer.
Since our last update, see here , we have had a few changes at the top of the leader board.
A new addition to the MG Quiz Hall of Fame - we wish a warm welcome Pendle lass, aka Tracy
Tsleight and rog1963 have had a real ding dong battle this last few days, scoring three wins each.
This has resulted in Tsleight pulling away from Mr Forgetful and opening up a two point lead.
rog1963 has leap frogged his way into a very interesting joint fourth alongside Red Devil and MartinW.

Thank you Bryan - I would never had got it without finding the http://www.maidstonesportscars.co.uk/projects/half-car.html webpage and thus, as I said, a copy and past job. HOWEVER like almost everything here, a never ending source of new information and FUN for m. :yesnod: :broon: (if sometimes frustrating :bang: :bang: )
Now my latest effort which I hope , with the clues, will prove interesting, a little bit challenging but not so much you all get bored
Think and read carefully:-
Howe Hammy is a relationship where there is an Elephant and Torpedo Wilson?
3 goes with 3/33 and 2 comes to1. All this on the invite of two leaders and with the help of the descendent of a family of artists.
Picture clues-
Who did what in what and when? Hopefully you will have fun :woohoo:

Lord Howe, Hugh "Hammy" Hamilton and some items on a car. Does that, with the pictures help? :slapme:
