The engine and gearbox originates from the Ford Mustang GT 2004 and uses a cast iron block and alloy cylinder heads, each with a single overhead camshaft. There are two large valves per cylinder, which helps maximise low and mid engine rpm power and torque generation. This engine is a direct relative to the all alloy 32 valve twin overhead camshafts per head engine that is used in the MG XPOWER SV models.
x12 = saloon
x13 = tourer
VIN 001 is allocated to the very special MG XPower ZT 500 concept ZT model that started the V8 model range towards production reality.
Specially built with a 500bhp supercharged 32 valve version of the engine, 6 speed gearbox and many other one off features including an aggressive but integrated bodykit, the car was saved by the MG Owners Club and rebuilt using the Clubs very extensive facilities and expertise. The beautifully restored car is often displayed at shows and at the Clubs HQ.

:woohoo: what a very busy week it has been. A week in which we welcomed a new face and seen newbie Tui (Hari) making a big entrance and having a ding dong battle with MGF MARK.
We started off with MG Police, Alloy inlets and the female finishing touch. Old number one then lead the way to Henry Ford II's MGB An early MG logo, Gerald Palmer's sporty MG saloon, Fast EMMA who emigrated to France, Suppliers of engines, radiators, screw threads and stop-go sayings brought us back to recent history with Ashley's MG and then all the way to James Bond in an MG maestro, plus the muscular V8 MG ZT. Rounding it all off with a globe trotting MG TC which settled in New Zealand. I'm worn out just thinking of it all again. :slapme:
Due to the popularity of the quiz and the polite request of a young lady I have baked another couple of pies, using the correct ingredients this time

1938 Issigonis ‘Lightweight Special’
To reduce unsprung weight, ultra lightweight Elektron
wheels and hubs with integral brake drums were
used; more unique features. His weight-saving philosophy
even meant that the aluminum-alloy skin of the Special
was left unpainted.
During 1933 to 1938, in his free time, he and friend
George Dowson constructed the hand-built car in Issigonis’
home garage without the aid of power tools. In his
book “Specials”, John Bolster wrote, ‘The Lightweight
Special is one of the most amazing specials ever constructed
One of the most original car designers of the modern era, ALEC ISSIGONIS (1906-1988) is best known as the creator of the Mini, but also designed two more of the five best-selling cars in British motoring history – the Morris Minor and the Austin 1100. link is morris
Issigonis later described the Lightweight Special as,
“A frivolity in my life. It was not so much a design exercise
as a means of teaching me to use my hands.”
