1. Honeybourne Moldings.
2. OEM body coloured?
3. Heritage
4. Mike Satur Bermuda - but unfortunately it looks like it was never built...
5. MS standard one with 6 clasps...

1. I think #1 is a racing light weight hard-top, but don't know the maker, was thinking a S&R accessory but probably Honeybourne.
2&3 - without googling one has ridge lines, the other is smooth. TF vs F?
4. Wasn't the Bermuda going to be offered in 2005 by MG Rover but MS took it over and it never got made in the end by him, too expensive?
5. Isn't that an MX5 Mk1/2 hard-top?

Was it BMHT (British Motoring Heritage Trust) that made these for MG-Rover?

;) Three replies OK let's see what we can sort out.

Answers

A.) The hardtops

1 Honeybourne Mouldings. 'Hardtops are manufactured to a high road use standard and are produced in heavy duty glassfibre with this top being made to the Racing style.'

2 MG OEM hardtop, styled by Gerry McGovern

3 British Motor Heritage Ltd., Heritage hardtop, 'Crafted and designed with the approval of the vehicle’s designer, Gerry McGovern, and uniquely incorporating the bonnet and boot lid feature lines with an MG Octagon on the “B” post extension.'

4 Mike Satur Bermuda Targa Top, which despite its good looks never made it in to production

5 Complete red herring :P it is an MX5 hardtop, shame on those of you who thought it was for the F / TF

B.) The original list price was £1095 when purchased with the car new.

C.) The hardtop was manufactured by Ex-Press Plastics Ltd.,

So looking at our three participants

with 3/7 MartinW
with 4/7 Tsleight

but just that in the lead with his 4/7 plus a very close B.) the winner is Bryan Young :yesnod:

He gets a win but has to live down the fact he thought an MX5 hard top would fit the F/TF :slapme:

:bust:

Bryan over to you

NOW that is very clever :woohoo: like you way of thinking. :yesnod:

Best way to fit an MX5 top to an MGF/TF is with Duct Tape and superglue :coat:

Thank you, it was a close run thing and another good question.

Now then this one is probably going to be quite easy :nonod: (well i know the answer :yesnod: )

1. What model is this car?

2. How many have been made?

3. How many were intended to be made?

4. What does it cost to the nearest £1000

5. Who is the wheel manufacturer and what is special about them.

Sorry about the quality of the pictures, but could not make it too easy

1. What model is this car? MGB GT LE50

2. How many have been made? 1

3. How many [strike]were[/strike] are intended to be made? 50

4. What does it cost to the nearest £1000? £50000

5. Who is the wheel manufacturer and what is special about them? The wheels are Frontline 's own product based on the original centre-lock Dunlop alloy rim as used on the MGA Twin Cam, but I have a feeling these are made for them by Image Wheels as can be seen here at http://www.kewengineering.co.uk/upgrades4mgs/Drivetrain/mgb_alternative_wheel_rims.html#Image Wheels.

CONGRATULATIONS :woohoo: well done, spot on.

** The aluminium wheels have been machined from a solid billet.
*** Frontline expect to be still making these in 2015 and the £50k is the base price! Additions can be made to this.

Its now over to you for the next one :yesnod:

Ah yes, machined from solid billet, I missed that part of the question. oops!

Anyway, staying on the theme of the LE50 and keeping it simple for a Sunday lunchtime...

a) What is ironic about this LE50 given that this year celebrates the launch of the MGB in 1962?

b) What other MG celebrates its 50th anniversary this year?

See, told you it was a simple one! ;)

Is it that the MGB GT (that this is based on) wasn't launched in 1962 but a couple of years later? Oh and isn't the MG LE50 £50000 + VAT?

Well done, John, the GT was launched in 1965, 3 years after the Roadster was launched! Frontline state £50,000 on their web-site but as you say it's not the o-t-r price.

And yes, the 1100 was first offered in 1962 as a Morris and MG, with Austin in the following year. My mkII 1300 is off to the spray shop this week, hopefully will be ready for the 50th celebrations.

Over to you for the next one.
