In my Paul PQD disguise, I can tell you that Martin supplied most of the answer ie the right link to MG and the upset motor manufacture, and Ted supplied the correct model name.
I reckon that gives Martin the next go, and Ted an honourable mention for another great piece of motoring knowledge. :yesnod:

Is MG just a backward GM or is GM a backward MG?

Eitherway define the link between the two and name the model of MG that shares it DNA with GM. You might need a Delorean to figure this one out, though.

Is it the Buick V8 in the MGB GT V8 of the early 70s?

Is it that the Vauxhall Insignia and the MG6 share the same floor pan through SAIC ownership of Shanghai Automotive Industry (Group) Corporation, China Company of General Motors and Shanghai General Automobile Co the "China" GM end of things?

The MG6 is not an Insignia platform but you are getting warmer with the SAIC/GM link and future models. :broon:
