A quick update on the movers and shakers.

The MG Quiz pie now looks like this...

So after some very varied and interesting MG related questions we see that Tsleight has opened up a bigger lead over third place Mr Forgetful, who after his recent computer troubles is now back on track. rog1963 made steady progress in 4th but was unable to close the gap Mr F after scoring 2 wins since the last update.

There is a three way tie for 5th place between Bryan Young, MartinW and Red Devil.

Gadget2466, bacchus and andy1970 all moved up after their wins.

A reminder of the current question - an interesting looking car this, frog eye style headlights on an MG?....

OK, I am going plump for it being an Arkley SS, couldn't really decipher between the SC or SS,

Arkley History
The Arkley SS was designed by John Britten in 1969 as a fibreglass front-end and rear-end body conversion to be fitted to the MG Midget or Austin-Healey Sprite. The fibreglass sections were manufactured by the Lenham Motor Company at Harrietsham in Kent and conversions done in John Britten's Arkley Engineering workshop at Arkley in Hertfordshire or they were sold as DIY kits. The retro design was inspired by the Morgan. A performance gain was made from the standard Sprite or Midget through weight reduction and the obligatory wide wheels and tyres. Around 900 Arkley kits were sold through the production period.

Sorry, not info dragged from the back of my mind, more from searching the big world wide web i'm afraid.

gotta sort a question now.....

I am sure this one is very simple and will go in a matter of minutes....

1. What on earth is this.........
2. What safety features does it have on it that the standard cars did not have,
3. how did you start the car?
4. Where is it now?

Interesting car! I had nearly stopped searching when i found a mention at the Heritage centre:

1. MGB GT SSV1 - Experimental Safety Vehicle
2. This MGB GT-based car featured a wealth of innovative features, including airbags (which worked in combination with passive seat-belts), anti-lock brakes, self-levelling suspension, impact-absorbing side-panels, and a rather curious roof-mounted rearview mirror which afforded the driver a 120-degree field of vision
3. It had a sequence of flashing lights that the driver had to repeat. If he got the sequence wrong 3 times, you had to wait an hour to try again!
4. Its kept at the Heritage Motor Centre.

Who and How and When did a US presidential candidate have a bearing on the SSV projects?

I think it was President Lyndon. B.Johnson. His involvement was to pass the new legislation and form the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act in 1966.

This was mainly following growing public concern and from the publication of Unsafe at any Speed, by Ralph Nader.
Wasn't this written after he drove the corsair?

All Manufacturers then embarked on Safety projects such as the SSV1, BL's projects included a Marina and a Mini.

Right by mistake! The answer was actually Ralph Nader who wrote Unsafe at any Speed in 1965. He has since been a Presidential candidate 6 times, including 2004 & 2008 as an independent.
