I did find more than 1 reference to the use of the P1800 engine, but don't have the links handy! Stuck in hotel on iPhone.

All yours Paul.

PS: and I din't think any are used widely because "people" want "original"... So slthough it can be done, it would lower the value or the car.

Some say I've driven a couple of MG's around the Top Gear track.

What you need to do is name the two MG's and put all these cars in order from fastest to slowest as they appear on the leader board.

MG No. 1?
MG No. 2?
Mercedes SL 55 AMG
Lotus Elise
Porsche Boxster Spyder
Porsche 911 Carrera S
Jaguar XFR
Honda NSX Type R
Nissan GT-R
Aston Martin DB7 GT

Finding the answer you will be able to verify, so please feel free to add your question if I'm not around.

Just before you look up the answer, just for fun try and sort the order then compare your answer. I was quite surprised by a few of them.

Paul – thank you – for the answer to Tsleight’s question. I was going bonkers!! Well more so than usual. :yesnod: I only found one (American) reference to a Volvo engine – surmised it might be from the P1800 (it mentioned that the engines became rarer because the donor cars were becoming valuable in their own right) and then couldn’t find it again!! Only found reference to the B box on an A engine..

Answer to your question (I hope) :yesnod:

MG No. 1? MG X-Power SV
MG No. 2? MG ZT 260

27. Nissan GT-R 1:19.70
83. Porsche 911 Carrera S 1:26.20
90. Jaguar XFR 1:26.70
MG No. 1? 117. MG X-Power SV 1:28.60
118. Porsche Boxster S 1:28.70
127. Aston Martin DB7 GT 1:30.40
135. Honda NSX-R 1:31.60 vw
153 Mercedes SL 55 AMG 1:33.00 vw
MG No. 2? 154. MG ZT 260 1:33.00
171. Lotus Elise S2 1:35.60 vw

Isn’t it surprising (although some cars were very wet laps) how well MG’s did?? :yesnod:

I’ll check later and, if correct, post another teaser!!

Well done Ted all correct. The MG's both put in very good laps, the ZT in particular did better than I thought :broon:

Looking forward to your new MG Quiz teaser

Thank you Tsleight - I hoped the clue would be helpful. :broon: The answer I had was (and neither of my sources was the one you found - amazing isn't it - the power of the Internettie)

J.S. Inskip Inc was an east coast importer of unique European automobiles that was started in the 1930's. In the late 1940's, Inskip became the east coast importer and distributor for MG. Inskip requested that MG built a 4 seat version of the T.D. However MG did not have the manufacturing resources to comply. Inskip perceived that there was a market for a 4 seat tourer similar to the earlier MG-Y. Inskip took just 12 T.D's and performed the Inskip conversion. The chassis was lengthened by 10 inches, drive shaft and brakes lines were lenghened, new running boards and doors were fabricated and of course new front and rear seats were fitted.

Well done and over to you for another convoluted one!! :yesnod:
