:bust: Sorry nothing to do with Tin Tin either.

To be more precise the car in the question is a Porsche 964, which is the Porsche company's internal name for the version of the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between 1989 and 1994.

Okaaay,
This model of Porsche had many magnesium components, and mg is the periodic symbol for magnesium?

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

I like your determination but it's not the correct answer.

For a reminder of the question, see the previous page ( or click here )

Would you like me to shed more light on the question ;)

Not yet! They did have a magnesium gearbox casing though! Others may be better informed than I, (not difficult!) and i am not ready to give up yet!

The MG RV8 headlights are from the Porsche 911- 964.

Back with front wheel drive and 181HP at the wheels :)

Yes the RV8, despite the MGB look at the front end was fitted with the headlights from a Porsche 964.

OK whilst Andy digs out a question, here is one just to keep you going...

Why would you chain a 4.6-litre V8 MG ZT 260 to a wall?

....either to stop it leaving the garage, or...

......to check axle characteristics, my eldest bro used to do antics like this to check spring wind-up in the 70's using wire rope and a Land Rover.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

:woohoo: Well done John, you are now the newest T-Bar member to win a slice of the MG Quiz pie.

During developement of the car, MG Rover was a bit short of cash, so they couldn't afford all the fancy computer simulations and modelling that the big manufacturers would carry out even before construction of a prototype.

When the engineers were setting up the rear suspension, they found that under hard acceleration the car was suffering from severe axle tramp but were not sure what was causing it.

To cure the problem, they bolted some chains to a big wall, then to the car, then one engineer got in and gave it some welly, whilst another one lay underneath the car to see where all the axle tramp was coming from.
