MG Quiz
My original question was going to relate to an obscure racetrack, but i think you've had enough of racetracks for now .... that, and I've left the pictures needed at work!
So to keep you impatient beggers happy I've rushed this together without checking back through previous questions to see if this has been covered, so apologies in advance if it has.
So I want you to tell me
a) what the car is?
b) the connection between the three pictures and why?
Now, be good boys and no bickering

Well I’ll stick my neck on the block to start with!!
EX 172 - UMG 400 A re bodied MGTD to compete in the 1951 Le Mans 24 hour race
Hasselblad 500 V Series - Introduced 1957 - Whilst thought to be German was in fact Swedish. A derivative of 1600F camera
February 2005 Autosport - Daytona 500 24 hour race which originally was the same length as Sebring which, in 1957 (see Hasselblad) MG had won the team prize with cars No 49,50 51
In other words, I have NO IDEA

Good start Ted, but faded badly after UMG 400.
I must add that the camera should be taken as generic, so Hasselblad is irrelevant. The particular issue of Autosport is also irrelevant!
So, we are looking for a connection between UMG 400; a camera and Autosport.
You are almost there though!

a) The EX 172 MG TD based UMG 400 built for the 1951 Le Mans and a forerunner of the MGA
b) George Phillips
George Phillips, a photographer for Autosport was one of the more successful MG racing drivers from the late 40’s and early 50’s. Phillips and London garage owner Dick Jacobs were known around the MG factory as the "heavenly twins" because they were constantly seen around the factory looking for parts and information to help them continue their winning ways.
UMG 400 was timed at 116 MPH on the Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans. George Phillips drove the car hard right from the very start of the Le Mans race. After 3 hours a valve broke, retiring the car.
Any good?

Rog that was a great question and weighted just right in my opinion . You should be able to find an answer within say a couple of hours (David please note - a matter of hours, not 2 1/2 days :slapme: )
Give me a few mins gentlemen and I'll post a new question.
