Assuming that Alan is happy with my answer...
At what sad occasion was this car classified as 'An old friend'?

This was a somewhat sad question to research but equally heart warming to see the MG community come together to celebrate the life of a fellow enthusiast.

The MG driver whose 'old friend', the MG TB 1350S, was pictured in the question was David Clewley.

David Clewley sadly passed away on Monday 5th December 2011 after a brave battle against cancer.

The funeral of this great MG stalwart and racing driver took place on Thursday December 15, at his local Church in Leysters, Worcestershire.

In attendance were over 250 mourners representing the many different parts of his varied life. The majority were MG T racers from all over the country.

Just before the new question, here is an update of the T-Bar MG Quiz Hall of Pie Fame

Having almost doubled her score since the last update, this weeks leader with 5 correct answers ~ Tui :yesnod:

Tui was closely followed by alanrt54, who now heads up the chasing pack.

rog1963, Tsleight
and David Aiketgate also played well and came up with some thought provoking questions.

David Aiketgate is now 1 point ahead of old rival Bryan young who appears to be so busy with the restoration of his F he has no time to research answers ;)

At the foot of the MG Quiz hill climb we find.....

and with engines revving hard on the way to the summit we have....

The new question to mull over is...

... simply name the MG models in production at the time this particular car was produced.

In 2004, from memory, I think it was:
MG ZR - 3dr and 5dr - 105 (1.4 16v K4), 120 (1.8 K4), 160 (1.8 K4 VVC), 2.0 L Series diesel,
Also ZR Express 3dr CDV in the ZR engine range options
MG ZS - 4dr and 5dr - 110 (1.6 K4), 120 (1.8 K4), 180 (2.5 KV6), 2.0 L Series diesel
MG ZT - 120 (1.8 K4), 160 (2.5 KV6 & 1.8 K4 turbo), 180 (2.5 KV6 Auto), 190 (2.5 KV6), 260 (Ford V8) and 116/131bhp CDTi BMW M47 diesel engine options
Also the MG ZT-T in the same engine options as the ZT.
MG TF - 115 (1.6 K4), 135 (1.8 K4) and 160 (1.8 K4 VVC) inc. the above 80th anniversary edition
MG SV - 320 (Ford V8) and a supercharged version MG SVR

If we're being picky, BMHT were producing bodyshells for the MG Midget and MGB and MGB GT.

Not in production as such but the concept MG TF Coupe 2.5 V6 was shown towards the end of 2004. The 75 Coupe was badged as Rover at that time so not relevant, it only got MG badging much later.

Martin you're the man I want on my MG Pub quiz side.

A wonderful, comprehensive answer with all the main characters and a few of those waiting in the wings.

:thanks: over to you Martin

Keeping it TF for a bit longer.

MG Rover were working on a new design instrument panel that eventually saw the light of day in the Nanjing TF. It has been mentioned in another thread of quite interesting facts that there were various differences such as the rev counter and speedo swapping sides, along with a change to a black background and an LED display.

However, what wasn't mentioned was a small change to the speedo, something that has carried through to the MG6, and some thing that gets criticised by test reviewers regularly. Anybody, apart from Paul :-), able to explain what this subtle change was?

I suspect it is the fact that the '0' needle position is straight down making it difficult for the shorter person to actually see what speed they're doing around town(ie below 40mph)

David, I am short, but never had a problem reading the speedo, but then I don't make a habit of driving slowly... :)

Paul is right, the difference is more obvious than that and widely slated in the test reviews of the MG6 as well as the 2008> TF if I recall.
