Ted, what's the problem?
Just get Bryan's book attachment, turn it over and read the cover.
Besides that you can just read the paragraph above the car in the first photo, all the clues you need are there.
Blurred you say? Specsavers.

One-off MG TD specially built by the MG factory at the request of racing privateer George Phillips for the 1951 24 Hours of Le Mans. Later, a new chassis was designed so as to seat the driver lower in the car with even cleaner bodywork resulting in the EX 175 prototype :woohoo:
Last seen in the UK - No idea so FAIL
I suspect this answer might have been print in haste, repent at leisure and that this is wrong wrong wrong except for FAIL which is right right right !! (Makes note to go to Library to collect ALL books on MG tomorrow )

You are going along the right lines, but you are wrong, sorry. and it was not taken from a book, lots of clues in the post that Paul wrote.
Another clue:- It was not built by the MG Car Company? and it has been seen with other racing numbers on it, other than 182

Went to Library (only small down here) asked for all books on MG (NONE), asked if I was, now what was it, a Head Case, Basket Case, Head Gasket Case :silly: - can't remember, can't see, can't get this one (yet) . Been through Lester, Buchanan, Konsin, Gardner, McComb, Enever - names I've never heard of and I'm old !! You think my clues are cryptic I could do with some right now. Somebody get this PLEASE, I need a good night's sleep - I have an important golf match tomorrow and, at this rate, I'll be k********.
