These are a couple of pictures of my arrangement for some ideas.
I tried to download a video of the remote fob operation; I haven’t mastered still yet.

Some clarity has just occured.

From day one with the car locked and alarmed I have always been able to open the boot with the key without the alarm sounding and still leaving the car doors locked. I could easily leave my key in the boot and close it and not be able to access the car.
Until 2 days ago when the alarm suddenly started going off when I opened the boot with the key! Obviously the switch had not been working!
I couldn't understand why  you guys had fitted a remote release switch in the cabin!
It's because you would unlock the car and alarm before you open the boot!!
Now it all makes sense!
My alarm on the boot is working normally again so I naturally now turn it off before I open it.
So I bought a defective MGF TF...this car really does have character...

In the entire history of the universe there has NEVER been a car alarm worth having! Nothing about car alarms makes any sense, the sooner I can be rid of mine and it's battery killing habits the happier I will be. I've always hated the bastard things, a never ending source of trouble.

I have to agree with you.
TBH I can quite happily do without one.
When I get a remap can it be disabled or is it just the immobiliser part that can be deleted?
Thanks.

There is a micro switch on the key barrel in the boot, this sends an interrupt signal to the alarm controller. If this signal isn’t sent then the voltage drop caused by the boot light triggers the system. I don’t know just how sensitive the alarm is to this snap change; would it trigger if a low current LED was used instead of an incandescent lamp?
Erroneous sounding of the alarm could be attributed to infamous boot wiring loom failing, I’ve mentioned this on numerous occasions, as yet there has been little or no feedback on this, one way or another.
My remote system has the interrupt signal engineered in; without it it would be useless.

Thanks for that info.
Now I realise how it works and it is working normally when I do fit a remote release it will go in the cabin.
Afterall, if Ihave the keys in my hand to open the boot it makes sense to use the fob and open the car at the same time.
BTW...I have checked the boot wiring at the hinge and it is perfect. Absolutely pristine and not strained at all.

My comments on the boot wiring & a sporadic alarm triggering is for the casual visitor who might be plagued with alarm problems. Comments like this might prompt them to inspect that area.
It is to be hoped that regular contributors & lookers in will be up to date with recalcitrant boot wiring tantrums.

Why not try a “Bluetooth” operated relay switch?
See eBay item number:
Bluetooth Relay Module Remote Control Switch 12V IOT Wireless Module
Buy It Now ., if not this one there must be a similar possibility.
Prrhaps eBay item number:
Relay Bluetooth Smart Remote Control Phone Switch DC12V Wireless Relay Module
Buy It Now
No keys, just your phone perhaps?
Certainly there appears to be a suitable APP for apple products that should operate a relay.
iPhone might be a bit more of a problem.
So who doesn’t have their phone with them?

I can’t locate the reference number you have given, I’m obviously doing something wrong but a number of these ESP32 type units are “open “ to secondary connection & although it’s doubtful that some scrote will be wandering about trying to fudge their way into an old MG it is something to consider.
None of the inexpensive RF systems are cast iron & I’ve used a few but the Bluetooth one can been a right fag to set up, with only marginal gains over bargain basement bogo jobs.
You still have to sort an interrupt to disable the alarm.
