What has the Hunkpapa Lakota Sioux Nation got to do with a 48mm throttle body? Paul, I am so dense a black hole would give up on me - much like The Samaritans in fact. :yesnod:

I have no question to ask, even if i got it right, and the last time, I only got 2 hours sleep thinking of further clues to questions raised.

I surrender - unlike Tȟatȟaŋka Iyotȟaŋka (born Hoka Psice) (Sitting Bull)

Guys out there - give the answer then I can go to bed - well get another drink - PLEASE before Paul gets commited :broon:

:woohoo: A winner

An S.U. Throttle body :yesnod: , the TF :nonod: that had a Dellorto throttle body

Throttle body helps perform basically the job of adjusting the Air : Fuel ratio (14.5:1 for lean burn k-series engine) like the S.U. carburettors used in most MG's ever made or throttle bodies up to 2001 when S.U. went bust.

Bit of History;

Financial matters came to a head in 1926 when G. H. Skinner withdrew from the company. Carl Skinner was now in a difficult position and approached W. R. Morris (Lord Nuffield) and following negotiations the S.U company was purchased by Morris for £100,000. This was a considerable sum for a loss making concern but Morris obviously saw potential in the product-retaining Carl as manager. Soon after purchase, S.U was relocated to a part of the old Wolseley Plant in Adderley Park in Birmingham.

S.U manufactured the carburettors for the Rolls Royce Merlin engines fitted to Hurricanes, Spitfires and many other aircraft.

Strangle - Throttle ... S.U. (Skinner Union) Throttle Body

That covers most of it ...........I'm off .Bye

Brian - are you out there Brian - I think you have been very, very naughty and have strung us all along knowing full well what Paul was on (about - sorry).

I shall endevour - like Morse to think of something later on but I think tonight is enough.

If YOU have a question please post otherwise it will have to wait for tomorrow as, not expecting to win - what do I know about mechanical things - that's what garages are for, I have no question readily available.

Oh, and where did the Indians come into it ? - ah, SU but Tȟatȟaŋka Iyotȟaŋka (born Hoka Psice) was Hunkpapa Lakota Sioux Nation - bit of a liberty!! :yesnod:

Right at the beginning I was going to say SU carbs (partly as an insult to F owners ;) ) but where does 14.5 come into it? Isn't stochiometric 14.7? Misleading clues, I say! :)

Good question, it's just a pity I didn't have a clue what the clues were about...but I do get throttling as in the Simpsons now.

Name the first MG to be:
1) fitted with a diesel engine
2) offered as an estate/station wagon
3) offered as a commercial van
4) offered with FWD
5) offered with a turbo

That should keep you all busy!

OK I'll start the ball rolling - probably incorectly!!

Name the first MG to be:
1) fitted with a diesel engine Turbo diesel Montego
2) offered as an estate/station wagon Montego 1984
3) offered as a commercial van MG Metro
4) offered with FWD 1100 1962
5) offered with a turbo Metro 82/83

I'm sure this will prove wrong but I am exhausted after the battle of Little Big Horn - only joking PQD - touche as they say and learning, surely, is the whole point of the Quiz. Sleepless nights are not!! But I do like it !!! :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:

I could be wrong but I thought the MG badged MMM range never came with an estate, van or diesel option?

Otherwise, 4 & 5 spot on.
