Oooops the question changed whilst I was typing my answer
 I was also mistaken with the 6 years, scrap that one, I'll stick with the gap in production in WW2 as the longest break in production.
Other gaps..... on the way

For WW2 they had an almost five year gap in the production of cars, 1940 - 1945, when the MG TC Midget became the first postwar MG.
They had further breaks in production from 1980 to 1982 when the MG badged cars were produced which went up to 1991. There was then just under a year gap before the RV8 went in to production and the last one was the gap between April 2005 and August 2007.
Better

SV John has done his usual quick drive through, while we wait for his return to pass judgement over the efforts of anyone attempting his question, here is a little one to keep you going.
Simple, name the cars
and the one on the right from behind
not exactly the same one, because obviously the colour is different same model

The last Chinese TF actually came off the production line in May 2010 , despite MG Motor UK Ltd stating in April 2011 "that production had ceased" ~ you are quite right the first MG6 rolled off the production line on 13 April 2011 (driven by Lisa Ponter the only female production line worker at Longbridge) ((( thats another question lost)))) so this break was only 11 months :slapme:

The MG6 is assembled at Longbridge using complete knock-down kits produced in China, so non production of MG's must be less than 11 months this time as the components have been produced in China and then shipped to Longbridge.
A quick question, whilst we await John Newey's thoughts on this topic has been posted a few posts above, just to keep things moving :yesnod:

I've just got in and, before lunch is served (the butler is on duty today) I've had a quick look again.
You are far more knowledgably than I Brian but I fancy it is original from the tyre size, radiator grill, horn & spot, head lights and no bumper although the hood looks a bit suspicious. Difficult to be sure on such a photo?
No doubt Paul is "playing" with us for being "picky" in the past ??? Having said that, this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to addictive and brilliant !!
Must go, lunch is served and on the table
