Noisy wiper motor!
I adjusted the play in the spindle with the cover off. Then put the cover back and tried it.
It was still noisy but quieter..as soon as I backed out the plastic grub screw a quarter turn the screech came back.
Backing it out lets the spindle wobble.
Just something you might try if you have a noisy motor as it is quick and easy.

A while ago I did an an analysis of this & it will still be there way back in time. I'm sure, with a modicum of detective work you will be able to find it.
That 40 odd quid is probably a sensible buy, a bench rebuild has a better outcome than footleing under the bonnet.

Has that also stopped the noise ?
Not as in a cure but much less noisy.
What threw me was having to turn the wipers on in a downpour to be greeted with a loud shriek. It was ok the last time I used them at least not alarming.
As soon asIback out the grubscrew the shriek comes back!

It looks the same, BUT:-
One uses switched earth, the other switched live.
As an exercise I did finally get it to work, But you will need to disassemble the pcb from the motor in the freelander motor and totally isolate it from the motor body. Otherwise the motor body becomes live and blows fuses instantly.

There is a complete assembly from seller coopersteve1 on ebay for £41.24 if you fancy bench stripping refurbing etc.
Thank you. That might not be a bad idea. My motor is in great condition apart from what seems to be a bearing and that won't be expensive.
if I practice on a s/h one I should be able to keep my original motor!
And sell one of them at a handsome margin on ebay when complete.

The top bearing is a race, I think & the bottom is oilite & it is this that grumble to the point of insurrection, I’ll dig my spare out, when I get home & have a poke about.

I've sprayed lithium grease through the hole where the plastic grub screw goes. Was hoping it would find a way in to the bearing or oilite. I know it's not the correct grease.
Tightening that grubscrew has reduced the noise so I am thinking it is the bearing at the top but I am guessing.
If you do have time to fiddle about I would be very interested in learning more.

I mentioned the two types of connector earlier, one is square & the other a truncated triangle, the pin out correlations I can’t help you with at the moment.

The screech did sound like a bearing noise but it has eased a bit after taking play out of the spindle.
It's still not acceptable and needs sorting.
